Biography:
Aggression and logic. For more than a year, Cherry Lane was a rock and roll force to be reckoned with. Formed from the ashes of the rock groups known as 21 Union Square and Girl Named Megan, Cherry Lane pushed the art of forceful music. Their words rallied for strength in difficulty. This Peoria, IL four-piece drew from backgrounds in power pop, indie-rock, and emo while at the same time forging ahead into punk and hardcore territory. Before breaking up, the band managed to play an impressive list of shows, tour the Midwest, and release a 7-song CDep.
This was Jared Grabb’s (formerly the singer/primary-songwriter for No Idea Records’ Scouts Honor and the 2nd guitarist of Victory Records’ The Forecast) debut.

Press:
"...A band like Cherry Lane makes the scene.... These guys are
incredibly tight musicians with loads of talent. In fact, this band
is amazing, an incredibly pleasant blend of hardcore and melody....
In short, this CD kicks ass and you need it...." - Delusions
of Adequacy
"...Cherry
Lane writes abrasive yet endearing punk songs with the pop structure
of the Get Up Kids and enough math rock starts and stops that would
make Cursive take notes..." - Jennifer Perkins of Naughty Secretary
Club
"Melodic
rock and hardcore usually stare warily at each other from the stoops
of different venues, but in Cherry Lane, they have made a curious
truce. The guitars are big, blasting anthem-like chords designed to
reach inside the chest. This is combined with vocals that are barked
instead of wailed, and held in place by mathematical rhythmic excursions....
The band deserves props for twisting a familiar genre to their own
vision and they are remarkably successful at it. Too pretty for emo,
too hard for arena rock, Cherry Lane make an interesting crossroads
for two disparate styles." - Ron Davies of Splendidezine.com
"...Cherry
Lane really impressed me here. Really well-developed song writing,
with intricate quiet parts jumping into heavy-yet polished-loud parts
at just the right places. While Hot Water Music-esque at times, Cherry
Lane does a good job keeping their sound relatively distinct and difficult
to really place them lock-step with any one band.... Cherry Lane are
a band that I would definitely expect good things from in the future."
